The residential elderly care sector made headlines in Leicestershire recently when residents were removed from a nursing home by Leicestershire County Council. The move followed a highly critical report of the home by from the Quality Care Commission. Incidents such as this highlight the vital role that the CQC plays in the care sector. Unfortunately from time to time care organisations fail to live up to the standards which they are required to by law and it is necessary for CQC to step in.
Whilst there are some excellent residential care homes in and around Leicestershire, incidents such as this are one of the reasons why people in the county are looking for alternative solutions to meet the 24 hour care needs of their elderly loved ones.
