Our Carers: George’s Thoughts
Hi, my name is George. After working as an Engineer, I decided to change to a role that would enable me to improve people’s lives through care and companionship.
I saw the advertisement for Helping Hands in the mid-week paper and got in touch straight away. I chose Helping Hands because I could work around my family commitments and build strong relationships with customers who could really benefit from my care.
After a successful telephone interview, I was accepted on to the training week. I thoroughly enjoyed my training sessions and found them very informative. The initial induction and subsequent refresher training ensure that I always feel prepared.
I have now been working as a Helping Hands Carer for over five years and still love what I do. The relationships I establish with my customers are very rewarding. I love the fact that my customers look forward to my visits and that the care I provide makes their lives a little easier.
Helping Hands offers flexible care work that really suits my active lifestyle. In my spare time, I enjoy cycling and have also recently enjoyed an expedition to climb Mount Everest. Although a truly rewarding experience, nothing beats the feeling you get from helping others as a Carer!
If you are looking for a rewarding and enjoyable role within care, I would definitely recommend Helping Hands. Each day is different and you never get bored.
