Parkinson's disease is a life changing degenerative disorder of the brain that impairs motor skills, speech, and other functions; it is characterized by muscle rigidity and a slowing of physical movement. Whilst obviously life changing, the diagnosis of Parkinson’s does not automatically mean that you or a loved one has to move out of the home and into residential care.
A Live-in Care provider, who has been properly trained in caring for an individual with Parkinson’s disease, can help minimise the disruption of diagnosis by providing the necessary levels of care at home. A bespoke one-to-one care plan will allow the Carer to help with, or indeed take over, tasks that have become too difficult since diagnosis.
Live-In Care for Parkinson’s is positive because…
- Personal Care is provided as and when it is needed, tailored to the preferences, needs and choices of your individual situation, to a level that makes you feel comfortable.
- Care at home is responsive and can adapt as needs change, supporting complex medication regimes by reminding and prompting.
- A Live-in Carer provides emotional support, remains positive and motivates their customer as well as promoting independence and restoring confidence.
- When mobility really becomes an issue, a Carer is on hand for every eventuality.
- Live-in Care reduces anxiety and stress levels that can worsen Parkinson’s symptoms.
- Helping Hands Live-in Carers receive specialist training to help them understand the complexities of Parkinson’s.
Parkinson’s and the comforts of home

- There is an audience of one – things will be done the way you want them.
- No upheaval and no disturbance of routine.
