According to the report released by Newsquest, the closure was announced following the North East London NHS Foundation Trust’s (NELFT) review of residents’ needs. In light of claims that existing staff are not equipped to support residents’ health needs, Helping Hands’ services could provide a welcome alternative to family members who are understandably anxious about the future of their loved ones’ care.

Helping Hands’ Clinical Nurse Manager, Hannah Gambrell, says, “Helping Hands provides a leading and cost effective alternative to nursing and care homes. We provide experienced Hourly and Live-in Carers who are trained to deliver person-centred complex care at home to people with mental health problems, learning disabilities and a broad spectrum of other health conditions that affect daily living.

“Locally managed by a team of Care Managers in our St Albans office, Helping Hands Live-in and Hourly Visiting Care services enable people to remain at home with the right level of support. From 30 minutes per week right through to 24 hour full-time care, our care packages are truly bespoke.

“One of the reasons people turn to Helping Hands for care is because of the adaptability of our services. Whether someone is looking for a few calls a week, short-term respite care whilst a family member is away on holiday, or 24 hour full-time nurse-led care, we have a solution to exactly meet their needs. Carers and customers have access to a team of dedicated care professionals, including Managers, Care Advice Specialists and our Dementia specialist, Jayne Vale.

“Care packages are monitored locally in Chingford and surrounding areas, and our Carers, who we match to customers based on personality and expertise, are directly employed and managed. From years of experience, I know that remaining at home with the right level of support can really benefit personal well-being and give people the level of independence they crave.”

If you have been affected by Hawkwell Court’s imminent closure or would like more information about how we can support you or a loved one in Chingford or surrounding areas, please contact a member of Helping Hands’ care team directly on 0808 180 9902 for a rapid response.
