World Alzheimer’s Day
Today is World Alzheimer’s Day. The date (Sept 21st) is set aside by the World Health Organization (WHO) every year to bring attention to the condition. This year’s theme is ‘Dementia: Living Together’. The focus is on reducing the stigma associated with dementia and encouraging a better understanding of dementia in our communities.
Attitudes and approaches to dementia vary hugely around the world – World Alzheimer’s Day helps to make the public aware of the facts.
By helping people better understand dementia, the symptoms, and the extent to which it can progress, we not only help people living with the condition, we also help the family members and carers.
