Live-In Care offers quality, personal one to one care in the comfort of home, bringing peace of mind knowing that you have avoided the disruption of moving away from familiar surroundings without comprising the level of care and support received.
As the term live-in suggests, the carer lives in the house with the person that they have been asked to look after. They sleep there ( they will need their own room) and follow a bespoke care plan that will have been created specifically for that individual. The carer will be able to suppport with :
- Companionship - sometimes just having somebody to talk to makes a difference
- Personal Care -eg, toileting, bathing, overseeing medication
- Housekeeping - eg, laundry, shopping, cleaning and cooking.
Some of the reasons we know live-in care works :
PEOPLE VALUE THEIR INDEPENDENCE AND WANT TO STAY AT HOME
PEOPLE DONT WANT TO CHANGE THEIR ROUTINES AND HAVE TO FIT IN WITH OTHERS
THE FAMILY WANT THE FREEDOM TO VISIT AND CALL WHENEVER THEY WANT TO
PEOPLE WANT TO SELECT AND KNOW THE PERSON WHO IS CARING
THERE IS A NEED FOR ONE TO ONE, DEDICATED CARERS WITH SPECIALIST TRAINING
MANY PEOPLE WANT TO STAY WITH THEIR PETS
THE CARE CHANGES SIMULTANEOUSY WITH NEEDS
THE COSTS ARE COMPARABLE WITH MANY NURSING HOMES.
Live in care is often appropriate to facilitate a prompt and safe hospital discharge and which at a later date can be reduced as the patient re-adjusts to being back at home. Our assessors are more than willing to come out to visit patients in hospital before they are discharged, so that a service can be agreed. Two thirds of all our live in clients have been referred via Social Services. Other sources of referral include Word of Mouth, GP’s and Age Concern.
We provide continous 24 hour live in care for many different reasons to many different types of people. These would include the following:
• Elderly
• Terminally ill
• Physically Disabled
• Learning Disabilities |
• MS
• Motor Neurone Disease
• Cancer
• Alzheimers Disease |
• Parkinsons Disease
• Main Carer unavailable / hospitalized
• Convalescent Care
• Respite Care |
Where specialist attention is required we have developed specific care training packages. For example, Helping Hands currently have 2 members of staff that are qualified LDAF assessors and a number of staff working towards the LDAF Qualification.
