Why should I consider Helping Hands?
Helping Hands Homecare has been providing domiciliary and live in care for nearly 15 years, working privately and with a number of Social Service Departments to include, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Gloucestershire, Dudley and Cheshire. We are registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection (Certificate Number E520002043) and are working towards Supporting People Accreditation. Although a local provider of hourly care our specialism is in providing 24 hour live in care throughout the whole of the country. As the demand for live in care has increased so our business has developed. Our Legal Compliance Manager now regularly reviews all of our policies and procedures to ensure that we meet and/or exceed the requirements of the Care Standards.
We have a dedicated team of experienced Live In Care Professionals who are used to working in conjunction with Social Services in the funding and placement of care packages. All of our Live In Team are qualified to the Registered Managers Award. If you would like to talk to one of our Senior Managers then please call 0808 980 1488 for more information.
There are very few care agencies that have the scope and experience to cater for those considering live in care on a national level, Helping Hands are one that you can turn to. Unlike some agencies it is our policy to maintain continuity of care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. We do not need to rotate staff on a weekly basis.
We have accommodation for our live in carers above our Warwickshire Office and assessors on standby to relocate them as soon as care packages have been agreed. We can respond as quickly as you need us to.
Why is live in care suitable ?
- Viable alternative to residential care in line with government policy to increase levels of care delivered in the community.
- Prevents bed blocking
- Prevents inappropriate hospital admission
- Allows prompt and safe hospital discharge
- Offers Respite / Convalescent care
- Flexibility, 1 or 2 carers, short / long term packages of care
- Cost effective when care needs become intensive
- Increasing care specialisms eg, LDAF, MS, ALzheimers
As direct payments empower more and more people, it becomes critical that they are able to make informed life choices. Live in care is now a realistic and feasible option for the many that would prefer to stay at home instead of going into an institution. It provides a guaranteed continuity of care within the familiarity and comfort of home.
Live in Care is also a workable solution when looking at inappropriate hospital admissions or care provision when the main carer has for some reason had to leave the home. In some areas we are able to offer our emergency live in care packages, also known as Rapid Response. Here we place carers within hours of the initial call. For more information click here.
But what if my case is very intensive and complex ?
This is the very environment in which live in care thrives. Two carers can work together to cover full 24 hour provision, aiding night care and difficult manual handling issues. Similarly, as care needs become increasingly complex it is important that our carers are educated accordingly. Thus we now cover up to 28 specialist topics through our Additional Training Programme. Nearly one third of our care workforce is working towards an additional training qualification. For a full list of the specialist care needs we are able to provide please click here.
Our Live In Care Managers would conduct a thorough Service User Assessment prior to any package of care beginning. This ensures that any particular needs that arise are addressed appropriately.
Can you clarify the tasks covered by live in carers ?
Some things cannot be pigeon holed, companionship and emotional support in particular are the foundations for live in care. General household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry and shopping will all be completed where required. All personal care, such as overseeing medication, feeding ( including peg feed), toileting and hygiene is covered too. In some instances social tasks are taken on board, for example accompanied visits to the Day Centre or recreational activities. Wherever needed, carers and management liase with Social Services, GP’s, district nurses, family and friends.
What about funding ?
The basic cost of Live In Care is approximately from £597 per week for a carer companion. The cost rises dependent on the assessment of needs of the client and the amount of care required. We are able to work in conjunction with many funding options including direct payments, ILF contributions and split social services / private funding.
For any clarification, our Live In Managers would be pleased to help.
