This is a service that was developed alongside Warwickshire Social Services as a solution to prevent bed blocking.

Rapid Response provides fast response, short term, live-in care packages with the following aims:

• To prevent an inappropriate hospital admission.

• To expediate hospital discharges for service users ready to return home, but who need a short period of intensive home care support.

Helping Hands guarantee to provide a live in carer anywhere within the specified area, within agreed hours, once we have received confirmation of the booking.

In 72% of Rapid Response cases service users were suitably rehabilitated or alternative care arrangements made allowing them to stay at home.

The service is offered 7 days a week, 52 weeks per year. A phone call to Head Office is all that is needed to set up the care, if the enquiry is out of office hours our on-call manager is also able to implement the service. Our existing service has been tailored so that the length that the service may be booked for is between 3 and 7 days. Generally Social Workers tend to book for 7 days and then reduce if necessary, that way we are able to guarantee the continuity of care. Charging structures mean that Social Services are only charged for the days that the service is provided.
