To support Dementia Awareness Week, Helping Hands is hosting an online live chat question and answer session on Wednesday 20th May between 11am and 12pm. The dementia specialists will be on hand to provide advice and practical tips on looking after a loved one living with the condition, which now affects 1 in 3 Britons.

Over the last year, Helping Hands has been leading the way with dementia care, beginning with a recently upgraded dementia helpline; a direct link for both Carers and family members to reach dementia care specialists who are on hand to answer any questions. Additionally, a free online guide to dementia is available for instant download, a useful resource which includes different types and stages of the condition, and top tips for caring for someone with dementia.

With a team of fully trained dementia champions, and over 300 silver award dementia Carers, Helping Hands is able to offer a quality service from homecare professionals who are experienced in helping people and their families cope with the challenges that dementia care brings about on a daily basis.

Tiffany Smith, Helping Hands Dementia Specialist says:

“To be the best dementia Carers, Helping Hands provides award-winning training to ensure that your loved one is fully supported by someone who has a thorough understanding of the condition and the particular behaviours that are often associated with it. This begins on an induction week, where Carers complete a nationally recognised certificate in care. Training continues with the promotion of an online course, full training days in dementia, and continuous access to the Helping Hands dementia champion team. Best practice also includes sharing and supporting community initiatives such as Dementia Awareness Week and Dementia Friends are at the heart of our service.”

The Helping Hands live chat is a great opportunity to increase awareness of the different services available to people, such as hourly visiting and full-time Live-in Care services. Visit https://www.helpinghandshomecare.co.uk/condition-led-care/dementia-care/ on Wednesday 20th May 11am – 12pm for a personal online chat with a Helping Hands Dementia specialist, or alternatively call the number on the web page and speak to a specialist if you would prefer.
