Home care in Didsbury
Visiting care and home care in Didsbury
Lying five miles south of the city of Manchester and along the north bank of the River Mersey is Didsbury, a quiet town with a big heart. With independent eateries and a laid-back atmosphere, Didsbury is a great place to be if you prefer a more relaxed style of living. Famous for the birthplace of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), Didsbury can also now add its very own branch of Helping Hands to its list of accolades.
Covering care across Didsbury, Parrs Wood, Withington, Wythenshawe and the surrounding areas, the team of Helping Hands carers offer support from as little as 30 minutes per week, all the way up to full-time live-in care. Their aim is to provide support and care to those who want to remain independent in their own home.

Branch Care Manager
My role at Helping Hands Cheadle and Wilmslow is to ensure we deliver a high standard of person-centred care to those who we support. It is my responsibility as the Registered Manager to oversee all aspects of the branch to ensure we are meeting individuals' care and support needs. I love the feeling of knowing we have such a positive impact everyday on those who require support, providing this in their own homes, where each of our customers have tailored care plans to support their individual needs. I'm a strong believer that you need a genuine passion for looking after others. I have always been a caring person and I wanted to use that in my work life. For me, it's a privilege to be involved in people's lives and make a difference. I promote an open and transparent culture, where kindness is at the heart of everything we do!

Home care Didsbury
-
For over 30 years, Helping Hands have been providing visiting care across England and Wales, ensuring thousands of people receive care on their terms. Encouraging independence and autonomy are our key aims as a home care provider, and we prioritise your preferences and needs above anything else.
Covering home care for those aged 18 all the way up to 100 and beyond, we’ll be there little or often, day or night. That way, you can rest assured that you’ll always have the support you need when you need it.
Visiting care covers the following needs:
- Personal care – getting washed, dressed and toileting needs
- Medication – gentle prompts to remind you to take your medication and help to administer it
- Mobility support – assistance with mobility aids in and around your home
- Housekeeping Services – cleaning, vacuuming, laundry and taking out the bins
- Nutrition – cooking meals, making your drinks and helping you do the weekly shop
In addition to practical support, visiting care can assist with your mental health too, particularly if you are at risk of isolation or loneliness. So, we can be much more than just carers; we’ll become your friend too.

Didsbury live-in care for round-the-clock support
-
For round-the-clock support that allows you to stay in the comfort of your own home, live-in care is a solution for those that require regular assistance which won’t quite fit in to hourly visits. Created around you, our team will get to know your exact needs – down to how many sugars you take in your tea and what time you like to get up in the morning. That way, your support plan is tailored entirely around you and your specific care requirements, so that you don’t have the hassle and stress of moving into residential care; you can receive quality care that’s bespoke to you.
What’s more, we have a team of clinical nurses who support our carers with customers who have more complex care needs, such as stroke after care, stomas, catheters or tracheostomies. Working with you, your carer and your family, we’ll make sure that you have the right level of care that’s adapted to your needs – whether that’s support with medication throughout the night or meeting with other health care professionals involved in your care.

Domiciliary care for extra reassurance
-
As a direct alternative to a nursing home, domiciliary care allows you to receive the extra support you need so that you can retain your independence at home. There are never any set meal times or wake up calls; everything is centred around you so that you have full control over your support plan.
We understand that having independence means different things to different people. For some, this could mean being able to get out to the local shops or see friends with a bit of extra support. For others, it could mean having personal care where and when you choose and with someone you feel comfortable with. Whatever you strive to achieve with your independence, we’ll make sure you get there with as much help as you need.

Retain your freedom with elderly care
-
There are lots of great things that come with age; grandchildren and retirement to name just a few. But there are also other things that can make life that little bit more difficult, such as poor health, reduced mobility or loneliness. That’s where the Didsbury elderly care team can step in. We’ll help out with pretty much anything that you need support with – from changing the beds, taking you to appointments, to helping you get dressed in the morning or just popping in for a cup of tea.
We believe that no one should feel lonely in their own home. That’s why our carers do so much more than the physical elements of care; they’ll be there to take you out to Disbury Park for an afternoon stroll, share a scone and cup of tea with you at the local café, or even help you do the daily crossword. Whatever you like to do to pass the time, they’ll be right there with you.

Take a break with respite care
-
Everyone needs a break from time to time, and this is no different for someone that cares for a family member or friend. With respite care, we can take over and provide the same high quality of care that you’d deliver yourself, giving both of you peace of mind that your loved ones’ routines are left unaltered.
We can also step in if there’s a family emergency that your regular caregiver needs to tend to, or you’ve been recently discharged from hospital following an injury or illness and you need help to get back on your feet. With the Didsbury team on hand to pop in for daily visits or support you with live-in care, you can rest assured that you won’t be left without care.
