What makes Helping Hands a better choice than a care agency in Gloucester?

Gloucester Care Agency

Choosing a home care agency in Gloucester?

Although Helping Hands is not a care agency in the traditional sense, we are actually better than an agency, because we are a private home care company who directly employ all our carers meaning you don’t have to worry about such things as National Insurance contributions and working out tax. Home care agencies traditionally ‘introduce’ you to a carer who then becomes your ’employee’, meaning that you are responsible for all the legalities such as holiday accrual and sick pay.

At Helping Hands, we are proud to be known as one of the UK’s leading home care providers and our carers have been supporting people in Gloucester – and all across England and Wales – for over 30 years. Our Gloucester care team will take the time to understand your situation and create a support plan that is tailored to you. We will always treat you as an individual, with your own unique care needs and our goal is to provide people with the support they need to maintain their freedom and independence, regardless of any health conditions they face. We will help you live life on your terms and support you in the place you know and love – your home and community.

Why Helping Hands is better than a care agency in Gloucester

There are many things that set us apart from a care agency. One of the major advantages of choosing Helping Hands is that our care services are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW). This means you can have full confidence in the quality and reliability of our care services. Sadly, this isn’t always the case for other care agency services that are not regulated by the CQC or the CIW. Choosing a regulated care provider means you can have peace of mind knowing that your loved one will receive the best standards of care.

Legally, if a care agency isn’t registered with the CQC or CIW they are not permitted to provide you with personal care, only to support you with household tasks and non-personal care. Therefore, this limits the service that you can receive from an unregistered ‘introductory’ agency, whereas with a fully managed service from Helping Hands you can receive every aspect of your care from highly trained, professional carers.

Alternatives to care agency services from our Gloucester branch

Unlike standard care agencies, we offer a wide range of support services that can be customised to meet your individual care needs. We focus on at-home support and offer two main types of care: visiting care and live-in care.

Visiting care can be arranged from just 30 minutes a week, while live-in care involves your carer living in your home with you so that they’re able to provide around the clock support. Regardless of the type of care you choose, all our carers are carefully selected and highly trained, to ensure they can best support our customers.

Dementia care

Dementia is a widespread health condition that affects over 900,000 people in the UK. There is no cure for dementia, but there is nothing to stop someone with the condition from living a safe and happy life. At Helping Hands, we are renowned experts in dementia care and have extensive experience supporting people with the condition. Unlike some introductory care agencies, our services are fully-regulated.

Respite care

Caregivers to need a break from time to time, to recharge their energy so that they can return to you fully rested and ready for the next stage of your care journey together. Respite care at home can be a welcome alternative to those who are not keen to enter a residential home, even temporarily. With Helping Hands, if your carer becomes sick or has to return home unexpectedly we will be able to supply you with an alternative carer within 24 hours, however if you are managing your carer yourself through an introductory agency, it will be your responsibility to source an alternative carer, which can be stressful, time-consuming and costly. Our respite carers therefore, have the skills and expertise to ensure a continuity of care, so you can relax knowing that your loved one is in safe hands.

Elderly care

It is natural for people to require extra support as they get older, and you may notice that an elderly loved one is finding their daily activities more strenuous than they used to. In this situation, we can arrange for a carer  to visit your loved one at home and assist with activities such as household chores, cooking, or running errands. This will allow your loved one to maintain their independence and remain living in the home they love safely and comfortably.

Private Gloucester agency carers

Unlike standard ‘introductory’ care agencies, our carers are recruited and directly employed by us, which gives them a better feeling of belonging and ensures they share our ethos for providing the highest quality, person-centred care at home. Our carers are passionate about providing outstanding home care and committed to keeping you at the centre of your care journey.
This also takes the worry away from you regarding employing your carer, and from them about being self-employed, which means you can both focus on the important thing; supporting you to be as independent as possible in your own home and living the best life you can.

Looking for a personalised support plan from a private home care agency?

When you choose Helping Hands, you will benefit from a fully managed, regulated service and dedicated support from a team of professionally trained carers. As we are not a care agency, our carers are making a real difference to the lives of people in Gloucester – and nationwide – by offering outstanding home support. If you would like to start the process of arranging home care or want to find out more, then please call our friendly customer care advisors who are available seven days a week.
