“I have worked for Helping Hands for six years and I am proud to work for a company with such strong values and belief in the delivery of quality care. The great thing about my job is being able to provide a solution to people who need it; being able to say ‘yes, we can help’ and being able to put a package of care in place swiftly is so rewarding. No two days are the same and it’s great to work for such a successful company that is rapidly growing.”
After graduating from Surrey University with a degree in Nutrition & Dietetics and as a Registered Dietitian, Caroline began her career in the NHS in an Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU) specialising in working with those living with an eating disorder and assisting with tube feeding.
After several years in the NHS, Caroline moved into the private healthcare sector working as the National Dietitian for Gluten Free Foods Limited and later for Roche Products. She then moved into the Health and Fitness sector, working at Grayshott Hall Health Spa providing tailored diets and fitness plans for visitors and residents, including a number of celebrity guests.
After some time out travelling, Caroline went back to the private healthcare industry, this time working for The Hospital Group as their Lead Dietitian and Operations Manager for their very successful Weight Loss Surgery Division. She then moved to do the same for Surgicare Limited where she was promoted to Operations Director and Business Development Director – overseeing both Weight Loss Surgery and Cosmetic Surgery. During this time, she was a Registered Manager with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the Birmingham Clinic and then became the Responsible Individual for Surgicare Limited. She was also approached to do the same for The Harley Medical Group.
Around this time, Caroline hadn’t long lost her father to cancer and her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. This led to Caroline and her sister having to provide her care and then look for outside support – at which point they had no knowledge of what care was available and how to go about arranging it.
Caroline describes how she felt after seeing a position available at Helping Hands: “I felt that with both my transferable skills and personal experience of care and caring for someone, it would be the perfect position for me.”
