Hourly care vs care homes
We offer bespoke home care services for people with all manner of needs on both a visiting and live-in basis. We can support those living with complex conditions, such as types of dementia, cancer and Parkinson’s, as well as those with more straightforward support needs. Whether you need full-time care from a live-in carer or would simply benefit from having someone pop in a few times a week to keep you company and help with the housework, we pride ourselves on being able to provide a personalised care solution that empowers each and every customer to live independently, comfortably and securely in their own home. If you need care in an emergency or on a short-term basis, we’re typically able to have a carer in your home within 24 hours of your initial phone call, ensuring you’re not left feeling isolated or unsupported. And, if you find yourself unexpectedly requiring carer – whether that’s because your regular carer has been taken ill or you’ve been discharged early from hospital – our respite carers can offer a seamless, specialist care service for as long as you need until everything’s back to normal.
At Helping Hands, we provide the full range of care services in the home, from the round-the-clock support of live-in care through to visiting support when you need it most. By choosing Helping Hands over a care home, there’s one unique difference: constant care and companionship from a carer who’s completely dedicated to you. We’ve been caring for people in their own homes for three decades. From our many years of experience, we firmly believe that if you want to stay at home to receive care, you can, regardless of where you are in the country or the condition you’re affected by. You don’t have to move into a residential care home, but can instead enjoy the multiple benefits of opting for a home care service over a care home.
With visiting care, you’ll have a carer come to visit you in your home at set times throughout the day or week. You’ll arrange a care plan with your local care manager so that you know exactly when to expect your carer, and they’ll help out around the home in whatever ways you need – whether that’s practical support with the housework, discreet personal care, or expert mobility support. If you require a more round-the-clock care solution, live-in care provides you with a carer who will come to live with you in your home so that they’re always on hand to provide specialist, proactive care throughout the whole day as well as overnight.
Dementia care is condition-led support designed to support you or your loved one as you face the specific challenges presented by your dementia. At Helping Hands, we provide dedicated dementia care to people in the comfortable, familiar surroundings of their own home. As a Dementia Action Alliance member, we train our carers to follow a routine that your loved one is used to and comfortable with, maintaining their independence as much as possible.
Unlike some other home care providers, Helping Hands are independently regulated and monitored by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW). These two bodies are the independent regulators of Health and Social Care in England and Wales, with the objective of ensuring that people have access to safe, caring, effective, responsive and well-led care services. They monitor, inspect and regulate these services to ensure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety. We welcome and comply with the registration and inspection and auditing process that regulation brings. We firmly believe that this commitment to transparency and quality can only drive the best possible experience for the families we support.
