As a live-in carer, you will play a vital part in the success of our business, and we want you to feel as important as you are. What do I need to be eligible?

  • Previous experience in a care environment
  • Level 2 diploma in Health and Social Care
  • Experience working with customers with dementia, palliative care or clinical care needs
  • The right to work in the UK

As a live-in carer you will support our customers in a variety of ways depending on their needs whilst living with them in their home. This could include but is not limited to:

  • Providing companionship
  • Helping with personal care
  • Helping with mobility – some customers need assistance getting around their home
  • Overseeing medication and providing medical support
  • Help around the home with chores such as cleaning and vacuuming
  • Preparing and cooking meals
  • Running errands such as food shopping or picking up prescriptions

What it's like to be a care assistant


Terms & conditions for the new starter bonus

0–hour contract
The starter bonus of £1000 will be paid to you over a period of 4 months in instalments of £250 per month in line with the current payroll period. This 4-month period will begin starting with the date of your first placement. To qualify for this starter bonus, you will need to be available for placement for a total of 12 weeks across the 4-month period.

If you are unable to provide suitable availability, do not start a placement with Helping Hands or terminate your employment with Helping Hands during the 4-month period, the starter bonus payments will cease to continue.

Guaranteed income contract carer contract
The starter bonus of £2000 will be paid to you over a period of 4 months in instalments of £500 per month in line with the current payroll period. This 4-month period will begin starting with the date of your first placement. As part of your guaranteed income contract, you must be able to provide your availability for placement on a 3-month rolling basis to your line manager.

If you are unable to provide your availability in line with the contractual period, do not start a placement with Helping Hands or terminate your employment with Helping Hands the starter bonus payments will cease to continue.
