Founded by Mary Lee in 1989, Helping Hands Home Care is one of the leading home care providers in the UK, offering bespoke live-in, visiting and respite care to support safety and independence in the home.

Specialising in live-in, domiciliary, dementia and nurse-supported home care, Helping Hands has grown exponentially over the course of its 31-year existence; from a local, one-person operation in Warwickshire to a regional service that has supported over 40,000 families across England and Wales.

There is a network of over 100 regional branches, branch managers and care specialists to support and develop its carers and to ensure the level of service and care delivered to its customers meets its high standards.

Helping Hands is fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England and in Wales by the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW). It has always been fully compliant with their stringent regulations and is very proud of this.

Helping Hands is a founding member of the United Kingdom Health Care Association (UKHCA), who promote best practice for customers and carers in home care across the UK. Furthermore, the home care provider is a member of the Dementia Action Alliance (DAA), Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) and United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injuries Forum (UKABIF), who all work closely with their members to ensure those living with their respective health conditions are looked after in a way that promotes their wellbeing and independence.

I was initially introduced to Helping Hands when I was looking for support for my mum. She was 88 years old and living with dementia, and despite having owned a nursing home previously, I was determined to help her stay at home where she was surrounded by her own comforts and family.

Mum’s care began with live-in support, and eventually we introduced additional visiting care as her condition progressed.

In the last few weeks of her life, we had a second live-in carer who worked through the night to ensure mum was always looked after.

Having become familiar with both the ethos of the company and the team here at Helping Hands, I was delighted when I was offered the opportunity as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Living some 250 miles away from our aunt, we were faced with the task of finding carers on whom we could not only rely upon to look after all her needs, but who would also communicate effectively with us. Helping Hands did not disappoint! Right from the start, all the carers looked after her extremely well, and also took the trouble to ask us about her interests etc. They reported to us each week by email and always phoned us if there were any issues to highlight. In all, Helping Hands went ‘over and above’ in the service they provided.
