Dementia expert, Jayne Vale, to give a talk for The Alzheimer’s Show

Our very own resident dementia expert, Jayne Vale, is due to give a talk for The Alzheimer’s Show on 30th July. The webinar, which will be held on the Show’s Digital Hub, will be led by Jayne and will focus on staying at home with the right dementia care for the individual – whether they are coming to terms with a recent diagnosis of vascular dementia or if they are in the later stages of Alzheimer’s.

Offering useful advice on how to support those with dementia during the coronavirus pandemic and practical tips for dementia care at home from the likes of Jayne, through to medical breakthroughs and legal advice following a diagnosis – the webinars are a collective of information and insight from industry experts and leaders in the field, which are free to view by anyone who registers to the Digital Hub.

Designed to support anyone who is living with dementia, has family members or loved ones with the condition or health care workers that work alongside those with any form of dementia – The Alzheimer’s Show has scheduled a series of different webinars in order to have the most informative and up-to-date information as possible, particularly during these challenging time we have recently been living through.

Jayne has been working at Helping Hands since 2004 and started her journey with us as initially as a carer, where she supported many customers with different types of dementia, including a gentleman with Lewy body dementia. Progressing to our training team, Jayne began to deliver dementia awareness training to new recruits, experienced carers and staff across the business. She continued to develop her knowledge of the condition when she completed a training programme with Worcestershire County Council and additionally a Dementia Studies course at Worcester University.

She says: “I believe to help someone live well with dementia we need to understand how to walk in their shoes; to experience their world and to move in it freely. I am looking forward to speaking to like-minded people that want others to understand about this condition and make our society a safer and more understanding place for people with dementia.”

The Alzheimer’s Show is the UK’s only dedicated event to dementia and takes place annually at the Olympia in London. Featuring expert speakers, Q and A sessions, practical tips, dementia-friendly products and even a sensory experience of what dementia feels like, the Show has attracted thousands of families, carers and health care professionals since its inception in 2013.

Jayne’s webinar titled ‘Your guide to dementia: How to stay at home with the right dementia care’, will be available on 30th July from 11:00-11:45am and will feature a question and answer session at the end of the talk. All of the webinars on The Alzheimer’s Society Digital Hub are free to view and can be watched by anyone that has an interest in the condition.
