What is community care?

Community Care is sometimes referred to as ‘care in the community’ and it literally means you’re receiving care in your own home, rather than in a nursing or residential facility. Many people who discover they need care don’t want to leave the home they love and move into a care home, and therefore the option to remain at home and receive community care instead is very appealing.

Because Helping Hands have been providing care for our customers since 1989, you and your loved ones can be confident that you’re being cared for by the home care experts. We’ve cared for thousands of people over the decades, varying from age-related frailties and mild care needs to more complex conditions, disabilities, and end-of-life care. Our dedicated local home care in Leeds team will be able to support you or your loved ones on either a visiting or live-in basis, meaning we can be with you from as little as 30 minutes per week, up to around the clock live-in care.

Who is community care for?

Community care is for anyone who needs a level of care and support in their own home. It isn’t just for people living with mild care needs either, as we regularly care for people in their own homes who are living with dementia, cancer, MS, MND, life-limiting conditions, spinal injuries and many different needs.

We also provide care for people who are just seeking companionship and a little help with housework and daily tasks, and we’re more than happy to pop in for a chat and a cup of tea, take you shopping or accompany you to walk the dog. Equally, we can undertake more personal care tasks such as showering, continence care, dressing and supporting you into and out of bed.
