About me
Hello, my name is Sonya, and I am the Regional Clinical Lead for the West.
I joined Helping Hands in June 2026 after spending the last two years working in the community as a Complex Care Nurse. Before moving into community care, I worked in Intensive Care, supporting critically ill patients, including throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, I completed the Level 7 Critical Care course to further develop my specialist knowledge and leadership skills.
I have also worked within acute medicine, with a particular focus on gastroenterology and respiratory care. These experiences have allowed me to develop a broad range of clinical skills.
Prior to starting my nursing degree at Birmingham City University in 2014, I worked as a community domiciliary carer. It feels as though my career has come full circle, bringing me back to the community where my care journey first began, now in my role as Regional Clinical Lead for the West.
I am passionate about delivering high-quality community care that supports individuals to maintain their independence and achieve the best possible quality of life. I aim to support our teams by providing training, clinical guidance, and leadership, ensuring that the people we care for receive safe, effective, and compassionate care.
