Cookie policy Clear and transparent ways of working

We use cookies and similar technologies on our website to make the site work, keep it secure, understand how people use it, and (if you agree) to tailor our information and advertising so it’s more relevant to you. This policy explains what cookies are, which types we use, how you can control them, and how they link to our Privacy Notice.

This website is owned and operated by Midshires Care Limited, trading as Helping Hands Home Care.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (for example, computer, tablet or phone) by websites you visit. They let the website recognise your device and store certain information about your preferences or previous activity on the site.

Some cookies are essential for the site to work. Others help us improve the site, measure which pages are useful, understand which adverts led you to us, or remind you to book a visit or meeting with our care team.

Our approach to consent

  • Strictly necessary cookies run because the site won’t work without them (for example, keeping forms secure).
  • All other cookies (analytics, personalisation, marketing) will only run if you actively allow them in our cookie banner / preference centre.
  • You can change your choices at any time using the cookie settings link on our site.
  • If you turn off non-essential cookies, the core site will still work, but some features (for example remembering your details in forms) may not.

We no longer rely on “by using this site you consent” implied consent for analytics or marketing tracking. You choose. This reflects current UK ePrivacy / PECR guidance and ICO expectations.

Types of cookies we use

1. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are needed for things like:

  • Security and fraud prevention
  • Making sure forms, call-back requests and “book a meeting / assessment” submissions actually send
  • Load balancing and uptime

You can’t turn off these cookies because the site will not work without them.

2. Functional / preference cookies

These remember choices you’ve made (for example, preferred branch location or preferred contact channel) so you don’t have to enter them again. They also support accessibility and performance.

3. Analytics and performance cookies

We use analytics cookies (for example, site traffic / page usage cookies) to understand which pages are helpful and where people get stuck, so we can improve the experience and make it easier to find the right type of care. These cookies can collect:

  • IP address
  • Which pages you visit and for how long
  • General device/browser information (mobile/desktop, browser type)

This information is used to understand trends, not to directly identify you. We only set these cookies if you allow analytics cookies.

4. Marketing, attribution and personalisation cookies

These cookies are set by our customer relationship and marketing platform (HubSpot) and our advertising partners. They help us:

  • Identify that you’ve previously contacted us about care so we can offer a follow-up call or meeting.
  • Pre-fill some information in forms so you don’t have to repeat yourself every time.
  • Understand which advert, search term, email or social post led you to the site so we can measure which channels are working.
  • Build audience groups (for example, “people who asked about live-in care in the last 30 days”) so we can show relevant service information to people who have already enquired.
  • Track whether emails or SMS we send (after you’ve asked us for information) were opened or clicked, so we can prioritise urgent cases and improve our follow-up.

We do not include detailed health information in marketing audiences. We only set these marketing cookies if you allow marketing cookies in the cookie banner.

Cookies set by our service providers

Some cookies are placed by third party services we use, such as HubSpot (CRM and marketing automation), analytics platforms, call tracking / booking tools, and advertising networks (for example, to measure which advert resulted in you booking a call). These providers may use cookies to deliver their services and may process limited information about your device and browsing session.

Some of these providers may be located outside the UK/EEA (for example, HubSpot’s core systems are hosted in the United States). Where that happens, we use appropriate legal safeguards to protect your data, as explained in our Privacy Notice.

Managing cookies

You are in control.

You can:

  • Use our on-site cookie banner / preference centre to accept or reject analytics and marketing cookies.
  • Update your choice at any time via the “Cookie settings” link in the footer.
  • Block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you block all cookies (including strictly necessary cookies), parts of the site may not work.
  • Opt out of certain analytics cookies using tools provided by the relevant provider.

For guidance on browser cookie controls you can visit resources such as aboutcookies.org or the browser’s own help pages.

Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we add new tracking tools or if the law changes. We will post the updated version on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
