Types of support we offer

At Helping Hands, we’re able to offer home care on both a visiting and live-in basis. Find out more about each type of care to see which might best suit you:

visiting care
Visiting care
Our visiting care is designed around your needs. From 30 minutes a week to several visits a day, having a visiting carer can provide you with the extra support you need to live well at home.
Visiting care enables you to continue to live the way you choose, allowing you to maintain your routines and independence.
Visiting care enables you to access what you need as your needs change. From support with meal preparation and light housework to assistance with getting the shops or managing medication, you are in control.
Your visiting carer offers companionship as well as care at every visit. Families often value the peace of mind this brings if they are not able to visit on a regular basis.

live in care
Live-in care
Our live-in care offers 24/7 support from a dedicated carer who lives with you in your home. Personalised, one to one care, so you can maintain your independence in the way you wish.
We know that having a carer live with you in your home can feel daunting which is why you can be reassured all our carers are handpicked for their kindness, patience, and empathy. They care for you or your family as we’d want our own families to be cared for.
Our team of specialist nurses train, support and oversee the delivery of care with our live-in carers. If you have complex needs or need help managing a condition, we can help.
For families that live some distance away, live-in care provides peace of mind that a loved one has the help they need.

respite care
Respite care
Our short-term care provides the extra support you might need at home after a stay in hospital, or if your usual carer needs a break. Available on a visiting or live-in basis.
If you’ve spent some time in hospital and are now heading home, let us help you rebuild your confidence one step at a time and get you back to feeling independent again.
If you regularly care for someone but need short term support while you take a break, our respite care can provide the peace of mind that a loved one is in trusted hands.
We can provide respite care in as little as 24 hours. If a sudden change of circumstances means you need extra support while you consider the next step, we can help.

How can we help Dad around the home?

There’s a common misconception that turning to an external provider for support means the end of an independent way of life for a loved one, whereas the very opposite is true. Even just a little bit of extra help throughout the week can do wonders for Dad’s independence, confidence and well-being. A support assistant can help in many ways, including:

Personal support

All of our carers are trained to provide discreet, sensitive support with personal routines such as bathing, dressing, toileting and continence care

Housework

If Dad is struggling to find the time or energy to stay on top of the housework, we can help out around the house with just about anything

Mobility support

Your father’s carer will be able to help him get into and out of bed and move around the home as well as offering support with physio exercises

Friendly companionship

All of our team members are selectively recruited for their kind, compassionate personalities and make for truly wonderful companions.

Assistance with medication

From collecting it on his behalf to helping him administer it, our assistants are expertly trained to help Dad with medication management

Looking after pets

If Dad has a dog whose collar is getting a little tight, an extra pair of hands can help him look after his furry friend and continue enjoying their company.
