Peg-gastrostomy care

Where do you need care?

We can provide care in your home anywhere in England & Wales

Helping you to live a healthy and independent life

At Helping Hands, we take great pride in being able to offer peg-gastrostomy care to people within their own homes, helping them to lead healthy, happy and independent lives.

Our services are led by our team of clinical nurses, who are enthusiastic about the people they provide gastrostomy care and peg-feeding support to. Combined with the links we hold with hospitals and other health organisations, this allows us to deliver the best level of feeding care possible. Regimes can be continuous or bolus of all nutritional intake, additionally the process can be developed as a support regime for reintroduction of oral nutrition and fluid intake support.

Bespoke planning of intervention for each customer is developed with our partners in the healthcare field to ensure a well-developed plan of intervention is maintained, and reviewed to ensure nutritional wellbeing.

What is gastrostomy care?

Gastrostomy is a term used to describe a surgical opening made directly into the stomach. This artificial opening is introduced to help people who experience difficulty swallowing food and liquids. A discreet plastic peg (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) tube or button directly inserted into the opening allows for food and liquids, as well as medicines, to enter the stomach.

Our carers work to ensure that customers can enjoy an independent life whilst receiving peg-gastrostomy care. We can help you or your loved ones with the management of food and fluid intake through daily feeding tube care, taking any dietary requirements into account. They can also support with any medication you or they might be taking.

As well as covering the medical aspects of gastrostomy care, our services also cover the important element of companionship. When our experienced carers arrive to provide PEG feeding at home for customers, they’re there to offer their help and support. Enthusiastic and friendly, our carers are never too busy for a quick chat and are happy to assist you to be comfortable in your own home.

As a home care agency with over two decades of experience, we’ve provided nursing-led PEG tube feeding for people in a whole range of circumstances.

Fully trained peg-gastrostomy carers

When you opt for PEG tube feeding delivered by a carer employed by Helping Hands, it’s designed to cater to you and you alone. Our expert nursing teams recognise that PEG care circumstances vary from person-to-person. We take into account your requirements to ensure you receive the levels of gastrostomy tube feeding care you need.

We take your existing lifestyle into account and look to build a gastrostomy care plan around it – allowing you to receive the support you need without the upheaval and disruption.
All our gastrostomy tube care services are delivered by experienced carers. We put all of our carers through significant selection procedures before inviting them to join our team. This meticulous approach allows us to ensure that you get a friendly carer who meets the PEG feed care standards we’ve worked hard to establish during the past 30-plus years.
