My mother needed help with shopping and, latterly, around the house, but the staff and carers from Helping Hands seemed, without being told, to understand that she also required companionship; the carers went above and beyond in providing a friendly face, conversation and care all at the same time as dealing with practical matters in a way that didn't undermine my mother's remaining independence. They genuinely cared. When things got difficult Emma Hurley-Rose organised rotas, changed them and changed them again whilst remaining resolutely cheerful. I am grateful.
