Why Helping Hands is better than a care agency in Littlehampton

Helping Hands have never been a care agency, which makes more of a difference than you may realise. For instance, care agencies don’t tend to employ their own carers, instead leaving it to you to organise, or forcing the carer to become self-employed. They often charge ‘referral’ and ‘introductory’ fees, even though we believe these things should always be part of the service, and once the carer is in your home they offer little in the way of follow-up support to either of you. With visits starting from as little as 30 minutes per week, our Worthing team will work entirely around you so you can feel safe and supported at home – with no compromise to your independence. Whether you need support with the practicalities such as personal care, household chores and meal preparation, or simply a friendly face to pop in for a cup of tea and a chat so you have some companionship, our Worthing team will are here to support you in any way you need.

Live-in care is exactly what it says in the name: a live-in carer will come and live with you in your home to provide round-the-clock support for whenever you need it. With empathy and discretion, our live in care in Worthing team will ensure that your needs are catered for at all times – no matter what time of the day it is.

But with expert dementia care from Justyna and her team, we’ll be there to give you the best level of guidance and support for you and your loved ones.

From dealing with memory loss to understanding how to manage challenging behaviour, our Worthing team are here to help you and your loved ones come to terms with your condition and learn how to manage the symptoms that come with it – whether that’s through communication or creating a life story book.

The inevitable stages of aging can often come hand-in-hand with a noticeable impact on our physical and mental abilities. Our bodies can often become weaker and our minds aren’t always as quick as they once were – but that doesn’t mean that you have to forego your independence if you’re feeling like you could use a little extra support.

You may need some practical support with your personal care, meal preparation and medication administration, or perhaps you enjoy a morning walk along the seafront but you don’t feel confident going alone anymore. Whatever it is you need, Justyna and her team are here to ensure that you have the support you need to feel safe and independent in the place you know best.

We understand that care needs can be unpredictable, and they can arise and change at such little notice that finding an alternative seems almost too difficult. But with respite care from Justyna and her team, we’ll ensure that you have a personalised respite support plan in place that is ready for whenever you need it – often within 24 hours of your initial enquiry.

Respite care is available for any occasion; you may be about to be discharged from hospital and would like some extra support whilst you get back on your feet, you may be looking to take a small break away but would like some help whilst you’re away from the familiarities of your own home or perhaps your usual caregiver has to tend to an emergency elsewhere. Whatever it is you need, we’ll provide a seamless transition between carers and ensure that your usual routines are followed to a T.

Over the course of our 30 years, we have received a number of accolades that we’re immensely proud of – such as being the first and only home care provider to be recognised as a Centre of Excellence by Skills for Care and becoming a dedicated member of the Dementia Action Alliance (DAA). But none of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for the commitment and compassion of our wonderful carers, support staff and management teams.

Each of our carers are directly employed with us, so you don’t have to worry about any additional paperwork or agency fees. And following our stringent recruitment process, each of our carers complete an award-winning training course that includes moving and handling, personal care, safeguarding and medication administration, as well as regular refresher courses to ensure that their skills and expertise are always at the best that they can be.
