Respite care is temporary support for someone who needs additional care for a few days or weeks. Many people who are living with a long-term condition may already have a permanent carer but that person will need to take regular breaks to keep them in the peak of physical and mental good health. The same goes if the caregivers are family members. When someone is giving of themselves to look after someone else it can be taxing, so when it’s time to take a break have a chat with Helping Hands. We’ve been providing the highest quality home care in Wellington, and across England and Wales since we were established in 1989. And because our visiting and live-in care is fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and the Care Inspectorate Wales, you’ll always be expertly cared for, however long you need us for.
Choosing respite care is as easy as picking up the phone, but you may be wondering in what circumstances you’d require it. Some of our respite customers have come out of hospital and need additional support to get back to full strength and live independently again, whereas others are recovering from an illness or fall. We also find that some people’s carers are going on holiday and they don’t want to be left alone, or that they may want to go on holiday themselves. Whatever the circumstances for you needing respite care, by remaining at home for it rather than moving into a residential home you’ll be in the place that means the most to you.
We only deliver person-centred care at Helping Hands; we certainly don’t treat people as ‘one size fits all’ and never have. Our exceptional visiting and live-in care will be tailored to your exact requirements and will be built around you, we don’t ever expect people to compromise their life for care. Our packages of respite care can consist of as many or as few days as you need covered, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays. You can avoid the upheaval of moving into temporary respite support by having care come to you instead, and with a flexible support plan that contains all of the detail your carers will need, you’ll receive seamless support that picks up where your regular carer left off.
Our carers are chosen simply because they have care in their hearts – we don’t believe you can be taught to care naturally for other people. That doesn’t mean we won’t give them continuous learning opportunities to build on their existing skills and apply to their customers’ care though, our inhouse training academy does all of that and more. We carefully screen all of our applicants to make sure they have spotless references and are cleared through the DBS, as we only want people coming into your home who should be there. This is an additional layer of protection for you and reassurance for your loved ones, until they return refreshed and renewed.
