My wife has developed an aversion to bathing that I was unable to manage but having one of your very able staff in to tackle the problem I was amazed that she accomplished the task all very peacefully on her own (Patsie)... There have been one or two problems lately, mainly at weekends concerning the use of recently appointed carers who are not fully trained in my specific caring needs. The problem is that when two of these carers are assigned to me together they are not fully competent with regards to my specific needs. I would highlight here the use of the ceiling hosts and the correct and safe positioning of the sling to transfer me to the toilet. This makes them nervous which is not helpful. I would emphasise that this has only happened a few times and the solution is quite simple by ensuring that an experienced carer who is aware of my needs is always paired with a carer of less experience. I have been assured that the local management is taking appropriate action. The other issue which has been raised with the local management concerns the inconsistent timekeeping which can be caused by carers not being given adequate time to travel between appointments. This is caused by inadequate time being allowed in the rotas to travel between clients. Once again, local management has been made aware of this problem and I am assured will be taken care of in the future preparation of the detailed rotas.

The lady who did the initial assessment was very understanding and easy to deal with. Carers friendly, prompt and very helpful. The process was quick and easy at a difficult time. The only single issue was that we cancelled at the weekend, head office number, when mum went into a hospice and they didn't pass the message on to the local team as promised, but it didn't matter as there was still time in hand so we didn't get billed for it anyway. Thanks to all.
