A New Lease of life – Colin’s story

Colin was recently diagnosed with dementia and needed some companionship. His daughters contacted Helping Hands, and that’s when our Romford branch stepped in to provide help.

Due to Colin’s dementia, he started to relate to events that happened in the past, such as where he lived. Colin hit it off instantly with our amazing carers and has been exploring the outdoors. So far, Colin has been to the park to feed ducks and the farm. He has also made a trip to Hylands House and the cinema to watch Elvis. They are now planning a trip to the beach.

Colin has been enjoying spending time with our Romford carers, so much so that his daughters increased his visits to five days per week. We also received wonderful feedback from his daughters.

“I would like to highlight the exceptional care my Dad has received since he was recently diagnosed with dementia. My sister and I work full-time in professional roles, and managing our professional and personal responsibilities has been challenging. The Helping Hands team has supported and guided us through this process and has been highly emphatic and understanding in helping us determine the support required for our Dad.”

“I would like to highlight Nicola, Pooja and Tarnya’s support. They are incredibly talented and all wonderful individuals. THANK YOU!”
