Andrew’s SIA challenge: so it starts – Day One

Andrew, our Finance Director, is cycling from Budapest to Vienna to raise money for the Spinal Injuries Association. Read Andrew’s first update as he travels to Hungary, excited for the challenge ahead.

“So, after not nearly enough sleep, the day begins early.”

“Leaving from Heathrow, I meet up with the group at 6:20 am. Most of the party seem to be seasoned ‘eventers’; having done at least London to Amsterdam last year.

The first challenge I face is that – having thought gels might be an issue at security – it was actually the bicycle saddles and pedals that the scanners weren’t very good at understanding! Is waiting in departure lounges ever pleasant?

It’s especially tedious today as we look forward to getting to Budapest this afternoon, to meet our ‘mounts’ and figure out if we have to do this on boneshakers!

I’ll make sure I keep you all updated as I pedal my way through the 75 miles of day one, wish me luck!”

It’s not too late to donate! Visit Andrew’s JustGiving page here to pledge your support to this incredible cause.

Good luck Andrew and #CycleForSpinal
