Multiple sclerosis care plans
What is a multiple sclerosis care plan?
A multiple sclerosis care plan is designed to provide you with support to live independently at home.
According to the NHS, multiple sclerosis (MS) is a lifelong condition and “can affect the brain and spinal cord, causing a wide range of potential symptoms, including problems with vision, arm or leg movement, sensation or balance.” However, with proper care, it is still possible to live an independent life at home.
At Helping Hands, our carers are trained to provide person-centred care and help manage symptoms, allowing you to live well with the condition. You can choose to have frequent visits throughout the week with visiting care or round-the-clock support with live-in care. Our care plans are bespoke and personalised to your needs, giving you the reassurance and peace of mind you need.
Why should I have a MS care plan?
Compassionate, person-centred MS care provides the support you need in the place you love most, home.
It’s not always easy to ask for extra support, especially if you have always done things independently. However, having a care plan can bring a sense of relief and positively impact your daily life, providing you with the comfort and security you need.
Here are a few benefits of having a MS care plan:

Maintain your independence
We’ll work around your routine
Person-centred care

Support with mobility
We understand that living with MS can have an impact on your mobility, which is why our carers are there to support you with going up the stairs and moving around the house safely.
Medication
Our carers can administer your medication and ensure you take it promptly. We can also help you organise your medication using a dosette box, allowing you to maintain your independence.
Personal care
All our carers can support you or your loved one with getting dressed, bathing, brushing your teeth, going to the toilet and much more.
Housekeeping
Our carers can help manage household duties, including helping with laundry, washing the dishes, and taking the bins out. They can even help you run errands like picking up fruit and vegetables.
Clinical support
Our carers are fully trained by our in-house training academy to provide exceptional clinical support, including catheter assistance and stoma care.
