Comfort Care

What Is Comfort Care?

Comfort care encompasses emotional, physical and social support for the patients and their families. It’s for people who have already been hospitalised several times and are no longer likely to have their condition enhanced by treatment. It is an important part of end-of-life care as it provides the patient with dignity and peacefulness, and helps to reduce pain levels and control symptoms. We specialise in delivering comfort care to those who need it.

At Helping Hands, we’ve got over 30 years’ experience in providing exceptional comfort care services to people across England and Wales that enables them to enjoy a better quality of life. Our homecare services focus on giving our customers the right type and level of support for their condition and circumstances.

Is Comfort Care Different To Palliative Care?

Comfort care differs from palliative care in that it is care without curative intent. Comfort care isn’t designed to ensure that the patient recovers from their condition, as it’s reserved for situations where the patient is no longer curable. Instead, comfort care focuses on pain relief, symptom management, and providing the best quality of life for as long as possible.

As a progressive condition worsens, the symptoms can become increasingly painful and uncomfortable – especially in the final months and weeks of life. Naturally this becomes a major source of concern for family members who want their loved one to experience a dignified, happy end of life.

What Comfort Care Services Are Available?

When you choose comfort care from Helping Hands, you’ll get a package of care that is completely tailored to your specific needs and wishes. We know that no two people have identical care requirements, so we’ll always take the time to fully understand your circumstances and identify the areas in which we can provide transformative, life-enhancing support to help you manage the symptoms of your condition.

Our visiting care plans start from as little as 30 minutes a week, and we’re also able to offer live-in care for people requiring a more round-the-clock approach to their support.

All of our private carers are trained to a very high standard and will be able to help you out personally and around the home in whatever way you need – whether that’s with bathing, dressing and toileting, mobility support, assisting with medication and applying creams and balms, cleaning the home, or just about anything else. Ultimately our objective is to make sure you or your loved one are able to live with as much dignity and comfort as possible.
