Meet a Branch Care Manager
Sophie Barker, Barnet Branch Care Manager
Sophie has been with Helping Hands for several years, starting her journey as care coordinator and quickly progressing on to branch care manager of our team in Barnet, London.
“I decided to join Helping Hands because I wanted to be part of a company which shares the same values and passion for care that I do. Helping Hands takes great pride in their staff and this is something I feel very passionate about. I thrive on providing a good quality service to my customers and I go home every day knowing I have helped people in my community to stay in their homes for as long as possible. I feel honoured to be working for such a company and I wouldn’t change a thing!”
Meet our Clinical Manager
Deanna Lane, Clinical Manager
Deanna has been with Helping Hands since July 2020 and loves being able to help customers stay in their own homes with tailored care to suit their individual needs. Deanna has worked within vascular and bowel surgery, tracheostomy and ventilator care, stomas, PEG feeding tubes and supporting young adults with spinal injuries throughout physiotherapy.
As well as this, Deanna worked within a residential home care setting from 2008 until 2020, and won the Care Home Manager of the Year award in 2012 at the Great South West Care Awards.
Deanna said: “I chose to work with Helping Hands as I researched their ethos of giving personalised and safe care to those living in their own homes and found that they have an excellent track record and I wanted to be part of that. I am passionate about great care and ensuring this gets recognised. ”
Deanna is extremely passionate about care and she will always go the extra mile for her customers. She is a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Council.

Denny Bruce, Head of Live-in Care, Central
Denny is one of our incredible managers. “I’ve been with the business for over 10 years now after beginning my career here as a part-time carer,” she explained. “and after being the manager of our Solihull branch I am now the Head of Live-in care for the Central region.
“My role is to support both carers and customers throughout their care journey, making sure the best quality service is provided for those living in the local community. I am also a dementia champion, which has really developed my understanding of support and supervision for those working with, and living with, the condition.”
Denny added, “I am always astounded by the quality and commitment of our carers – we handpick them for their personality and their compassion. My role is supporting them so they can concentrate on taking care of our customers.”
