Private: Tracheostomy care

Tracheostomy care from Helping Hands

Nursing-led tracheostomy care enables people to manage their tracheostomies at home.

Nursing-led tracheostomy care from Helping Hands is designed to enable individuals who have undergone the procedure to manage their tracheostomies at home.

We understand that it can take time to adapt to a tracheostomy tube, and that eating, talking, exercising, and keeping the tube clean and free of blockages can all be difficult at first. We also know that living an independent lifestyle with a tracheostomy is easily achievable with the right support from our team of expert clinicians.

A supportive culture

We ensure our carers have access to dedicated managers and the help and support they need to carry out their role.

Comprehensive training and ongoing development

Our comprehensive training ensures our carers are fully ready to provide a wide range of support to customers from day one while our professional development programme ensure our carers can continue to develop their skills and access opportunities.

Our carer Reward and Recognition Programme – Moments of Kindness – celebrates the impact of small gestures and the actions of carers who go the extra mile to create joy, raise a smile, or offer reassurance or a sense of calm. Winners receive shopping vouchers and are featured in our magazine, Voices.

How can a tracheostomy carer help you?

When you have a tracheostomy, a carer at home can be a valuable source of support.

At Helping Hands, we take a holistic, person-centred approach to our home care. This means that your well-being will always be at the heart of every element of your care plan, including ensuring your carer is fully trained and equipped to meet your needs.

All care staff involved in airway management support will receive intensive tracheostomy training, which is delivered by the Helping Hands clinical team. We’ll also constantly monitor your needs and your condition with the help of one of our specialist nurses, so that we can make changes to your support as required.
