How helping people with Dementia could save the NHS millions.

A report launched recently by Healthcare at Home claims that £ 127 million could be saved by the NHS in hospital admissions if a better quality of home care could be provided for people living with dementia.

Commenting on the report The Alzheimer’s Society said  “ Dementia is one of the biggest health and social care challenges of our generation. Yet, as this report once again shows, we are failing to address it effectively. Avoidable hospital admissions not only represent a huge financial cost to the NHS, but can also have an unacceptable impact on the health and emotional well-being of people with dementia and their carers.  While staying at home is not right for everyone we know many people want to remain in the familiar surroundings they are used to with family or loved ones.  Only with the right support will this be possible.“

We at Helping Hands are continually enhancing our own knowledge on how to best assist our customers with their various conditions. Our Training Department are almost ready to launch our updated Dementia Training Course to help enhance the knowledge that our dementia carers have of working with customers living with dementia.
