Industry leading carer training
Posted on 12th November 2012.

We recently heard about lady who had a serious stroke which affected her movement and speech.

One day whilst watching TV with her carer from Helping Hands, an old music show came on. Tapping her feet and humming, she explained to Lilia (her carer) that she used to dance with her husband when she was younger and wished she could dance with him again.

Unbeknownst to the lady or her husband, Lilia decorated the living room with rose petals and prepared the music. She then helped the lady out of her wheelchair and left her to dance with her husband once again.

With tears in his eyes, the husband thanks Lilia when he left the room. When Lilia went back into the room the lady held her hand and smiled at her. Those few moments meant everything to the lady and her husband, but also to her carer.

It’s an example of how great carers can go the extra mile to make a difference to the people they are caring for.
