Never too late to care – Pippa’s story
The Sale branch was thrilled to welcome Pippa back to work after ten years of retirement.
Her response on returning to work was that “retirement doesn’t suit everyone”. She had more to give back to others and was keen to care for those who needed additional support in their home.
She celebrated her 70th birthday on her return to work and was showered with gifts and cake. The team was thrilled to share this milestone with her and welcome her back.
Pippa loves meeting new people, finds the role incredibly rewarding and is incredibly proud knowing that she makes a difference in people’s lives.

Since returning to work, Pippa has received heart-warming feedback from her lovely customers:
“We would be so lost without Pippa – she is an angel without wings.”
“My mum adores Pippa, and we couldn’t imagine life without her.”
“Pippa is a ball of sunshine; she brings it with her whenever she visits.”
Pippa always goes above and beyond, and in recent months was able to save a customer’s life by performing CPR until the paramedics arrived. Her work ethic and knowledge are invaluable, and she has become a treasured member of the team.
The extra income has also meant she can spoil her grandchildren, who are all living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Pippa believes, “You’re never too old to care” and we are so pleased that Pippa decided to return to work at Helping Hands.
