Intermediate care team2

Helping Hands new team of Intermediate Care Managers are now in place to ensure you and your loved one receive high-quality, well-managed care across all short-term Live-in packages.

Our friendly team are here to support you throughout the duration of care, from face-to-face assessment, to finding a Carer with the right skills, experience and personality to suit your needs. Each manager is dedicated to a region of the country, meaning that no matter where you live in England and Wales, you can count on their support.

Let’s meet the team

Sarah Houghton – South: “I’ve worked in care for eight years, and I was drawn to Helping Hands because their values made me think what they were doing really mattered. To ensure quality of service, we like to work from a team of Carers that we have all used and often recommend to each other, and ensure Carers have the correct level of training for the particular customer.

As Care Managers, we maintain communication with Carers, customers and decision-makers on a regular basis. This is especially important with Palliative customers as their needs can change quickly and these changes need to be acted upon. Supporting our Carers in Palliative packages is very important. In short, we make a difference in people’s lives at a critical time.”

Nicola Worrallo – Central and Wales: “I’ve been in the care industry for 27 years and even worked as a Live-in Carer myself. With support from our team, customers in need of care and support or relatives of those in urgent need can access an efficient and safe service at very short notice. It gives peace of mind: a swift and structured response means that customers don’t experience the stress of waiting for assessments to be completed days after enquiry.

I was privileged to help a young gentleman who had sustained a physical disability in a motor accident return home with the support of a Carer. The customer was thrilled to be able to return to his job and continue with his hobbies and interests. After building a sincere, professional relationship with the gentleman, I was able to provide a service with a well-matched Carer that he could trust.”

Karen Graham – North: “I’ve worked in the care sector for the past twelve years following a long twelve months nursing my ill grandfather through Palliative and End of Life Care. Now as a Helping Hands ICM, I enjoy meeting and working with some of the best Carers we have.

We as an Intermediate Care team can offer unique Respite, Palliative and End of Life experiences. We each cover a whole region and have close contact with our customers, Carers and family members, making it a very personal service.”

Lyndsey Akay – East: “I joined Helping Hands five and a half years ago as a Live-in Carer. I progressed within the company, and now I’m an ICM.

Since we started, we have supported returning respite customers, giving continuity to people who only want care 2-4 times per year. For Palliative customers, we are able to offer Carers who work solely in Palliative packages and have the necessary skills and experience.”

Tim Lee, Helping Hands CEO, explains why the team are so important:

“Our new Intermediate Care Manager team means we can provide a quick response to families who are in need of urgent help.  This team also oversees our at-home Palliative Care service and personifies the principles on which Helping Hands was founded.”
