Balham

Balham, south-west London, appeared in the Domesday Book as Belgeham and has been settled since Saxon times. As in other places, the area developed significantly after the arrival of the railway, but it suffered heavy damage from air raids in World War II. There are many significant buildings in the area, not least the attractive Art-Deco apartment building Du Cane Court, which featured in the period drama Poirot.

While we can’t claim to have our beginnings as far back as the Art-Deco period, we do have an impressive history stretching back to 1989. Since then we’ve been delivering exceptional visiting and live-in care to our customers across the capital, all fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission.

High quality home care in Balham

Home care is increasingly the preferred option for people who need some extra support at home. It’s often presumed that if you are struggling with remaining independent then your only option is to go into a care home, but that is never the case with Helping Hands. Many people only need some intermittent help, perhaps for an hour or two a day, or less often if family are stepping in, but whether you need us occasionally or throughout the day, we’ll be able to help with your physical and emotional wellbeing.

    24/7 live in care support

Live-in care is like sausage and mash or cottage pie; comfortable and comforting. Having someone living in your home means that you’ll always be comforted and have the company of someone who has your best interests at heart. And if you’re a fan of home-cooked meals then they’ll be able to prepare those for you too. Having physical and emotional care at all times will support your well-being tremendously while knowing that you’re never at risk of loneliness will be reassuring for your loved ones as well.

Why Helping Hands is better than a care agency in Balham

We’re not a care agency and never have been! Care agencies are very different to what we do at Helping Hands as they have little involvement in your day-to-day care process, instead expecting you to employ and manage your carer, or leaving them to be self-employed. We don’t do that though; instead, we manage your care package fully from the first moment you call us. And because we own and run all of our 155 branches across England and Wales, we can guarantee a consistency of care that you just don’t get with franchised services.

Qualified carers providing a variety of care services in Balham

Our carers are the jewel in Helping Hands’ crown, so it’s only right that we look after them the way they look after you. We achieve this by giving them a superb start with an unrivalled onboarding process that includes bespoke learning that will give them all the practical skills they’ll need. The one thing we can’t do is teach them how to care from the heart for others though, and we’ll always make sure that they have that naturally before we take them on.
