Being given a cancer diagnosis can be one of the most difficult things we may ever face, but if your loved ones then also have the pressure of delivering care to you it can strain things even more. By having a Helping Hands carer coming to you at home you receive essential care without stress, meaning you and your loved ones can just concentrate on spending quality time together and helping you through your illness. Our care and support can be delivered on both a visiting and live-in care basis, meaning that we can design a package of care for you that encompasses all of your needs. And because all of our care is regulated by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales you can be confident that we’ll deliver nothing but the very highest quality support.
Whether you’re newly diagnosed and looking to put things in place for the future or you’re on a palliative care journey and would appreciate support with day-to-day tasks such as housekeeping and personal care, our amazing carers will make your daily life as comfortable as possible, working with your wider healthcare team where relevant. Cancer has better survival rates than ever so there’s no reason to think you’ll need us for end-of-life care, but if it did eventually come to that we’ll continue to support you with dignity and compassion, for as long as you need us.
Our care packages aren’t ‘one size fits all’, they’re individually designed and delivered for every customer we support. Because we’ve been delivering exceptional cancer care in our customers’ homes since we were established in 1989 we truly are the UK’s home care experts, and that’s why thousands of people trust us every day to deliver their care and support. We can deliver you support on a short-term basis to give family members some time off, longer-term, or for as long as you need us, undertaking all the tasks that you want done at home, as well as accompanying you to appointments and helping you to make the most of your local community.
We have our own team of nurses at Helping Hands, overseeing our palliative and more complex care packages, and training our carers to learn all the skills they’ll need to manage such a sensitive situation. Whether it’s advice with medication, cooking you nutritious meals, or keeping your home clean and tidy, our carers will receive exemplary training to build on their existing skills and keep you as comfortable as possible. Our carers can be with you day and night, overseen by our nursing team, to make sure that you have the very best support at all times. We’ll also be there for your family at this most stressful of times, offering emotional support as you all go through this difficult journey together.
