Meet Sarah, our Branch Manager
"I love getting to know new customers and working with them to create a package of care that suits their lifestyle and enables their independence," Sarah explains. “Having been a carer myself, I believe that I can share my first-hand experiences with new carers.”
Sarah’s experiences have come from working in a care home and in a hospital. She looks back on these with great fondness and pride: “In the care home, I mainly supported people with advanced dementia and learnt a lot from this experience. In the hospital, I was based on the emergency assessment ward and have experience in supporting people who had gone into cardiac arrests. I really enjoyed being able to help the patients in their time of need.”

Live-in care that provides peace of mind
When you’re considering your care options, it can be quite a daunting prospect, especially if you don’t want to leave your home. And with live-in care from Helping Hands, you don’t have to. We can arrange for a live-in carer to be there for you when you need it most – whether you’re a young person living with an acquired brain injury or in your senior years living with advanced Alzheimer’s.
The great thing about live-in care is that we’ll work with you to decide on the perfect carer for you. If you’re a retired seamstress or tailor, then we’ll do our best to find someone who’s worked in the fashion industry or has a love for clothes.
As well as having someone on hand round-the-clock, live-in care also allows you to keep your existing routines with your social circles, family and life choices. If you need extra support to attend a family celebration or go on a shopping trip to The Mall in Luton, we’ll be there every step of the way.
Domiciliary care that allows you to retain your independence
Domiciliary care puts you back in control of your care in the comfort of your own surroundings, without having to adhere to strict timetables. Even if it’s just an extra pair of hands to help you plant new seedlings in the spring or assistance getting to and from the shops – domiciliary care is tailored entirely around you.
Seeing a familiar face every day or once a week can really help with your emotional wellbeing and can also be a great source of companionship. With visits starting from as little as 30 minutes per week, we’ll meet with you to arrange a care plan perfectly suited to you.
Specialist dementia care
Dementia presents itself in a variety of different ways and as a dementia specialist, we’re equipped to help you deal with this unsettling condition – whether that’s Pick’s disease, frontotemporal dementia or Alzheimer’s. As well as supporting you with the challenging symptoms and changes in behaviour that can accompany some types of the condition, we’ll also be there for you and your family, providing reassurance and professional care.
Being diagnosed with dementia doesn’t mean that you have to give up all that is dear to you, including the home that you have lived in and loved for years. Home care allows you to stay in familiar surroundings whilst receiving care that it built entirely around you.
Elderly care for you or your loved ones
Just because you’ve reached your senior years, it doesn’t mean you have to give up your favourite hobbies, pets or even your home. With elderly care from Sarah’s team, we’ll keep you in the place you know and love and where you feel most comfortable – your home.
With support from a team of clinical nurses, we’re able to support you with more complex care conditions that include stoma and catheter management, PEG feeding or stroke aftercare. Not only will you receive assistance from our dedicated carers, but you’ll also build up a rapport with them and be able to look forward to the same friendly face for your care visits.
Respite care for short-term breaks
Being a full-time carer is a huge commitment and when you need a break from time-to-time, you can rest assured that we will provide excellent care for your loved one. Before you take time for some well-earned rest and recuperation, we’ll work with both of you to ensure everything fits in with your current care routines.
We understand how quickly care needs can sometimes arise, particularly if your regular carer needs to tend to an emergency or you’re being discharged from hospital and need extra support at home. Sarah and her team will aim to swiftly provide care that caters for all of your needs – sometimes within 24 hours of your initial enquiry. We pride ourselves on being able to put high quality care into place that suits you, that won’t intrude, encroach or meddle with your existing routine.
