What is respite care?

Respite care is a short-term period of care, usually delivered by someone different to your regular carer. This can be necessary because your regular carer is taking a break, has been taken ill or needs to leave in a hurry for a personal reason. It could also be that your family members are going on holiday and won’t be around to support you for a while, or perhaps you never usually have care at all and just need some temporary support to get you back on your feet after an illness, accident or hospital stay.

When to choose respite care

You may have been struck with an illness that has prevented you from living as independently as you usually do, or maybe you’ve been in hospital for a while and are nervous about coming home without any support in place. Most commonly through, respite care is delivered to give your regular carer a break from their duties, which is essential for everyone who cares for another person. Caring for someone else is very rewarding but often exhausting, which is why it’s essential all carers get regular time away from their responsibilities. We can have a carer with you quickly so that your care continues seamlessly, and even in an emergency we can usually have someone in your home within 24 hours.

Respite care services tailored to you

We’ll work with you to design a bespoke package of care that ensures your care needs are supported at all times and provide a personalised support plan that will contain every aspect of your requirements and routine – meaning every carer who comes to your home, whether on a visiting care or live-in care basis, will know exactly how you like your care delivered. Our carers can be with you from just 30 minutes per week, several times a day, or even around the clock, to provide personal care, meal preparation, medication, mobility support, housework help, and so much more.
