I had an appointment today with my 92 year old mother for an assessment for help in the morning with getting up and personal care. I had said that I needed someone to start as soon as possible. A lady came and the first she said was we don’t have anybody that can start till the end of the month! She was very abrupt in her manner. I said I wished that someone had told me this when I had made this appointment to which I was told that people in the office don’t know about the availability of carers!! I said well there isn’t any point taking this any further so she just got up and walked out, no goodbye to my mum or sorry for the misunderstanding! I found her to be very rude for someone who is a carer and to be honest I wouldn’t want someone like her looking after my mum!!

Mother likes all her carers and is much happier now.

Service is a godsend, i need the break from looking after my husband, and i can relax knowing he is being looked after well. And i get some me time.

My parents are both ninety, my father with Parkinsons and my mother suffering with stress from caring for my father. We were at the point of considering a nursing home but both of them hated the idea. They wanted to live their lives in the family home. Helping Hands has made this a possibility for them. By flexible timing of the number of hours required, they have allowed my parents the dignity of staying in their own house, but within a budget that will not destroy their savings of a lifetime. The staff are excellent. My parents have a new lease of life. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
