How can our Live-in Carers in Gloucester help you?

A live-in carer stays in your home, providing consistent support and companionship throughout the day and night. They’ll help with practical tasks while encouraging you to keep your independence and routines. This might include assistance with bathing and dressing, preparing meals, managing medication, helping with mobility, light cleaning, shopping, attending appointments and supporting social activities. They’ll also be there when you just fancy a cuppa and a light-hearted conversation whenever you need it.

Why you may need Live-in Care

If you're currently receiving care a few times a week but are starting to realise that visiting care no longer gives you enough support, live-in care could be the natural next step. Perhaps you’re worried about falls during the night, or you’d simply feel more comfortable knowing someone’s nearby. Live-in care gives you that added security and reassurance of having a friendly face constantly at hand.

Live-in care can also be ideal if you’re recovering from illness, living with a progressive condition or finding it harder to manage household tasks. Companionship is another important reason many people choose this type of care. We always aim to match you with a carer who shares similar interests and values, helping your relationship feel natural and positive.

Carers for limited hour visits

If you don’t require constant assistance, we can tailor your live-in arrangement. Your carer might focus on specific times of day, offering support where it’s most needed while respecting your privacy. We’ll even support you with overnight care if you struggle getting in and out of bed in the early hours. That way, you always have peace of mind that someone is there when you need them most.

Intermittent long-term care

Some customers only need live-in care at certain points. We can organise flexible arrangements over the long term, ensuring you’ve got support during key periods. Wherever possible, we’ll provide the same carer each time so you can benefit from familiarity and continuity. Respite care can become a vital part of your care routine for both you and your regular carer, allowing you both to have some space for a couple of weeks and giving you both a break.

Immediate start home help carers

If you find that you need care urgently, emergency care can usually be arranged on the same day that you get in touch with us. We typically aim to have everything arranged within 72 hours, and sometimes sooner depending on availability. We’ll still make sure your support plan is carefully discussed before care begins.

What's included with Live-in care at Helping Hands?

All our carers are directly employed, thoroughly vetted and professionally trained by Helping Hands. We don’t outsource, which means we maintain high standards across every aspect of our service. And to ensure they have the practical skills required to provide exceptional care, all of our Gloucester carers undergo our industry-leading training programme that covers manual handling, personal care, dementia, medication and safeguarding. This level of attention isn’t always the case for other care agencies, which is why our Gloucester team are better than other care agencies in Gloucester.

We are also founding members of the United Kingdom Health Care Association (UKHCA), who promote the highest standards in home care across the UK, including providing the latest and safest practices to customers via their carers.
