What’s included with home care at Helping Hands?
From visits that slot into your weekly routine with keeping up with the housework, to full-time live-in care for those who need more intensive support with their health care needs, home care covers a whole variety of different scenarios, conditions and preferences.
You may find that your care journey begins after a hospital discharge and you need urgent emergency care for when you get home. Or perhaps you’ve been recommended by a friend because of how helpful their carer is with the washing, cleaning and looking after their home and they’ve noticed that you might need some extra support. Our aim is keep you living as well and as independently as possible at home, so that you can enjoy and live life to the fullest.
Why you may need home care
There is no prescribed list of reasons that you may need care, and it is something that we all may need to consider at some point in our lives; whether that’s ourselves or our loved ones. You may develop a condition such as dementia or Parkinson’s and realise that you need extra support with activities of daily living. Or you may have a loved one that has reached their senior years and is finding it difficult to cope with the housework and shopping. Whatever your needs are, our experienced team in Kensington & Chelsea will ensure that you have everything you need to remain living well at home.
Carers for limited hour visits
For some, care visits are short and sweet, lasting as little as 30 minutes or sometimes longer if they have more tasks that they need support with. From vacuuming, watering the plants and taking your dog out for a walk, to collecting prescriptions, accompanying you to appointments and taking you out for the afternoon – visiting care can be the reassurance you may need if living alone or with a partner if you’re unsteady on your feet or struggle to do the things you used to be able to do independently. We can even provide overnight care if you become more anxious during the nighttime, assuring you that you’ll get a restful night’s sleep.
Intermittent long-term visits
Having the sole responsibility of caring for a loved one or friend doesn’t come without its challenges. Whilst caring for someone else that means a lot to you can be a very positive experience, it is important that you take time out for yourself to rest and live your own life. Our respite carers can step in at a time that’s right for both of you and replicate the existing care routines that you already have, giving you both peace of mind that you have the right support in place while you take a step back.
Carers for immediate situations
If you find yourself urgently needing care after a hospital visit, illness or if you’ve been let down by another care provider, emergency care from the Kensington & Chelsea team can usually be arranged within 24 hours of your enquiry to us, and sometimes sooner. And just because you have care swiftly arranged, it doesn’t mean that it won’t be the same standard that you would expect to receive if you had planned care in advance. Our empathetic and professional carers have the skills and know-how to provide the industry-leading care that we’re renowned for.
Home carers in Kensington & Chelsea
The team at our Kensington & Chelsea branch are dedicated to providing person-centred support to those in need across the borough. Helping Hands is not a care agency, meaning that we don’t arrange carers to provide support for you at home and leave them to it. All of our carers are supported by our local team that is overseen by area care manger Julie and supported by our clinical lead, Carole.
Being a fully-managed service, as opposed to a care agency, also means that we provide a fully comprehensive training programme to all of our carers, covering moving and handling, personal care, first aid, safeguarding and many more modules. Our Kensington & Chelsea team are also regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), who oversee the effectiveness, responsiveness and safety of our care practices.
