Northampton respite support from Helping Hands

Caring for a loved one is rewarding, but also physically and mentally exhausting at times, which is why it’s so important that your carers get to take regular breaks from their caring duties. Everyone needs time to relax and recharge themselves when they’ve been caring for someone else, and that’s where respite care can be especially valuable. At Helping Hands we’ve been providing care for our customers in their own homes since 1989, which is why when we say we’re the home care experts you can be confident in our claims. We can provide temporary respite care on either a visiting or live-in basis and our dedicated Northampton care team will ensure you live your best life possible in the home you love.

What is respite care?

Respite care is usually temporary cover for a week or two so that your regular carer can take a break, or you can have extra support to see you back on your feet after an illness or surgery. We offer respite care on both a visiting-care basis – where your carers come to you at fixed times of the day and help you with tasks, or live-in care where someone resides in your home around the clock for extra reassurance and companionship.

When to choose respite care

If you’ve been in hospital and you’re worried how you’ll manage at home after you’re discharged, then respite care for a week or two can help you get back on your feet. Alternatively, if you already have a carer you’ll know how hard they work and how deserving they are of a break, whether that’s a professional carer or a family member. Perhaps you’ve been reluctant to accept respite before because you’re worried about leaving your home, but with respite care at home from Helping Hands, you don’t have to. Your carers will come to you in the home you love, and you’ll soon look forward to their cheerful arrival and the dignified way they carry out your care. What’s more, we always make sure that there’s the minimum of disruption from your regular care service to us, and back again.

Respite care services tailored to you

All of our bespoke care packages are designed with the customer in mind, so you can be confident that your care will be carried out by dedicated professionals who understand care. No matter which of our services you choose, visiting or live-in, your carer will be able to help with tasks such as personal care, medication, meals, getting you in and out of bed, housework, mobility and accessing the community. Additionally, if emergency care is needed your carer can be with you quickly when time is of the essence, even within 24 hours.

Qualified respite carers in Northampton

Your loved ones may be anxious about leaving you with someone new so that they can take a break, however with Helping Hands they don’t need to be. Our amazing carers are selected because they have natural caring abilities and want to make a difference to their customers’ lives, and for all the other skills they need we train them thoroughly. Even if you usually have a carer you may be surprised by the level of empathy and kindness you receive from our caregivers, they really are the heart of our business for a reason. We check our carers backgrounds thoroughly and screen them through the DBS to ensure they are the sort of people you’d want in your home, and because we’re fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales you and your loved ones can be confident in our excellent standards of care delivery.
