What is respite care?
Respite care is short-term support when your regular carer isn’t available, or for a number of other reasons. You may not usually have care but you’d appreciate some extra support temporarily at home, rather than having to move into a residential or care home elsewhere. It makes sense to remain in the home that you’re most comfortable and feel safest in, and with respite care from Helping Hands there really is no reason to feel you can’t do exactly that.

When to choose respite care
Your regular carer may be unavailable due to illness, family emergency or a scheduled holiday, or perhaps you’re usually cared for by a family member, but they desperately need to take a holiday. You may also have been discharged from hospital earlier than was first anticipated, meaning you need a little extra support at home to get you back into the best of health. We can even provide you with care in an emergency situation, within 24 hours of your first call, wherever possible.

Respite care services tailored to you
When you choose support at home from our Weymouth team you’ll have a bespoke package of care designed for you, accompanied by a personalised support plan. This will contain every aspect of your daily routine, such as what you like to eat and when you prefer to go to bed which is the beauty of care at home; you remain in control of your care at all times, deciding what you do and at what times you do it. Our amazing carers can come to you on either a visiting or live-in basis, with visiting care available from just 30 minutes a week and live-in care for additional reassurance and care around the clock. Regardless of your needs, our carers can support you with your medication, mobility, meal preparation, housework, personal care and so much more.

Qualified respite carers in Weymouth
We are proud of everything that our carers achieve on a daily basis, supporting our customers to live as independently as possible in the homes they love. We believe our carers to be the best in the industry, because we are very particular about who we select to become Helping Hands carers, only choosing people who meet our requirements for having compassionate and empathetic natures.
We carefully train all of our carers to ensure that they get to build on their existing skills and develop new ones, all of which can be applied to the care they deliver to their customers. We also keep you safe at home by ensuring all of our carers are screened through the Disclosure and Barring Service and in addition, we’re fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales. This means that you and your loved ones can be reassured that we’ll always maintain our consistently high standards of care.
