We’re excited and honoured to be named as one of the top 20 companies for outstanding leadership and culture, according to the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and Glassdoor. Every member of the Helping Hands Family is special and incredible — this nomination couldn’t have been possible without them!

We're one of the most inspirational UK workplaces

From our visiting carers who work all across England & Wales as part of our local branch network, live-in carers who literally move in with the person they support to give them round-the-clock support, to the teams working hard all the time at our head office to give our customers and carers the support they need to achieve their dreams.

What is the ‘Leadership and Culture at Work’ ranking?

The 2018 Leadership and Culture at Work report analysed 7 000 companies across the UK based on various aspects, such as senior management and culture, as well as examining both current and previous employee reviews on Glassdoor.

CMI’s Head of Policy Rob Wall explains: “The CMI/Glassdoor Top 20 showcases companies with the best management and working cultures in the UK. At a time when trust in business is at an all-time low, good management and leadership is more important than ever to build inclusive and inspiring cultures which enhance productivity and promote employee engagement and wellbeing.”

The businesses named on the list ranged from large multinationals to smaller independent firms in a variety of sectors, such as technology, consulting and, of course, home care.

To be named in the top 20 out of so many other organisations in the UK is a real testament to the hard work of all our teams and the leaders who make sure that they are supported and valued in their work.

An award-winning year for Helping Hands

Making it into the Top 20 inspirational workplaces comes four months after our CEO Tim won a Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award as the 32nd highest rated CEO in the entire UK.

It’s the second year in a row that Tim has not only been recognised by the Award, but also achieved an outstanding 92% approval rating based on anonymous reviews shared by Helping Hands employees.

Tim Lee, Helping Hands CEO

After his mother Mary established Helping Hands in 1989, Tim has continued his family’s dream of providing the best possible support for people within the comfort of their own home, surrounded by those they love.

“My family’s original vision and values still underpin everything that we strive so hard to achieve,” Tim shared after receiving the Glassdoor award. “Therefore, focussing on our people, listening to them, and understanding their concerns has to be my top priority.”

Tim’s ranking placed him alongside CEOs from major names including Microsoft and Apple. And now having being named on the list of the UK’s top 20 inspirational workplaces, Tim and the entire Helping Hands Family are continuing to grow and develop the next generation of incredible carers and teams.

Take a look at what else Tim said after being named a Glassdoor Top CEO.

Hear from the amazing people who make a difference in their local community

Creating a supportive environment for our teams is what we always strive for – by doing that, we’re able to find the best carers for our customers and their families, who are in turn supported by our dedicated office teams at our branches and Warwickshire Head Office.

An inspirational company to work for

The thoughts and reviews from these teams were key parts of the CMI and Glassdoor Leadership and Culture at Work ranking. “I love working for Helping Hands,” one carer stated. “They supported me through NVQ3 and gave me amazing experiences with new customers. We are all one big family in our branch.”

I started working for Helping Hands when I was at a point in my life when I didn’t really know what I wanted to do,” another added. “I knew I cared about people and wanted to make a difference… 11 years on I am still here! Working for Helping Hands has for me been one of the best decisions I made for my career and family.”

It’s an exciting time for us here at Helping Hands and with such amazing people working at all areas of the business, we’re looking forward to welcoming more inspirational members to the Helping Hands Family.
