At Helping Hands, our carers have been making a difference in the lives of other people for nearly 30 years. Alongside our dedicated support team, they’ve been helping those living with various conditions to live independently at home.

We’re privileged to have a team of incredible carers who are supporting families across England and Wales. Many of our carers were new to care when they joined us, but following in-depth training and ongoing support, they have some wonderful success stories.

Have a read about the main reasons they became a carer with Helping Hands.

Supporting people at home

Our live-in carers are on hand to provide care around the clock. Being there to support their customers with anything they need is something that all of our carers find incredibly rewarding. Whether their customer just needs a chat or help with personal care, they can be assured someone will always be there for them.

“I am driven and motivated by knowing that I can wake up each day knowing that I will be helping someone in need.”

Care from the heart

Care is something that comes from the heart. With full and ongoing training, previous experience as a carer isn’t always necessary. As long as you have a natural desire to help people, you can make a difference.

“Giving time to those who need support is something truly special. It’s not something that can be taught in a text book.”

Mareta, a live-in carer

Making a difference

Everyone is unique and will have different care needs. Sometimes, an advanced level of care is needed, and our carers are the ones to provide it. With a focus on independence, being a carer can make a lasting and positive contribution in someone else’s life.

“Making a positive and significant difference to the sometimes very challenging lives of people is, frankly, what this job is all about.”

Job satisfaction and fulfillment

Working as a carer is not only a rewarding career – you have the chance to meet some wonderful individuals and have fun at the same time! Many of carers form close relationships with their customers and have some wonderful memories.

“I’ve been a carer for 18 years and never thought about being anything else. Care is so rewarding, makes you feel good, and I’ve met amazing people.”

Mandy, a visiting carer in Warwickshire
