Respite care in Andover

Andover respite support from Helping Hands

Respite care comes in many forms and can be necessary for many reasons. For instance, you may have a regular carer who needs a scheduled break, and you don’t want to leave your home to go into a care home, even temporarily. Perhaps you are usually looked after by family members, but they need a holiday to relax and recharge their batteries and they want a temporary carer for you that will ensure your care remains consistent. You may have been ill or had an accident and now you’re home you would like a little extra help to get you back on your feet again. Regardless of the reason, you can trust the compassionate Andover care team to help you for as long as you need them and ensure your care remains at a consistently high standard.

What is respite care?

Respite care can be delivered in several different ways by Helping Hands, but essentially it means being cared for by a different carer than usual so that your regular carer(s) take a break. Respite care can be delivered by us on either a visiting or live-in care basis, with visits starting from just 30 minutes a week for companionship and lower-level needs, or throughout the day for more complex requirements. We can also offer around the clock, live-in care if that’s something that you would prefer, meaning you have a carer with you throughout the day and night in case you are in need of anything.

When to choose respite care

Remaining in your own home for respite care as opposed to going to a residential care home can be beneficial for your physical as well as emotional health. Being able to stay in the home you love, surrounded by the people, pets and possessions that mean everything to you is such a good idea, whether you love sitting in your garden, looking at a favourite view or just letting the memories of a life well-lived surround you every day. Respite care at home means your loved ones or regular caregiver get to take the break they need, ensuring they return to caring for you refreshed and relaxed.

Andover respite care services tailored to you

Respite care on a visiting or live-in basis is crucial so that you can decide on the bespoke package of care that suits you best, keeping you at the centre of your care and ensuring you always have expert one-on-one support. It’s near-impossible for care home staff to be able to give you such singular attention, however much they’d like to, simply due to lack of staffing, whereas in your own home you can be your carer’s sole focus. They’ll support you with every aspect of your daily routine such as medication, personal care and meal preparation, plus so much more. Even if your carer leaving was unanticipated, such as them being taken ill, we can support you in an emergency, with respite care being available within 24 hours in most cases.
