Meet the team

Laura Forrister

Meet Laura Forrister, our Branch Care Manager, Basingstoke

As the manager for the Basingstoke Branch, it is my responsibility to ensure that a high quality of care is being delivered and we are offering a safe and effective service to our customers. My job role includes complying with the five KLOES and following CQC guidance to ensure that the service we offer is five stars. I decided to join the care industry back in 2015 where I started as a carer and the reason behind this is because of the caring nature I have and knowing that I can help others to make a difference or at least contribute to making things easier for others. I am passionate about the care industry and believe that everybody deserves a high standard of care delivered to them. I am proud of the team at Basingstoke, the carers are always going above and beyond in their job role and always ensuring they put the customers first, the services we offer in Basingstoke are amazing with a wide range of ensuring a person-centred service is delivered. I have two children, a girl aged 19 and a boy aged 13, I have 2 cats who are definitely part of the family. I do a lot of charity events for my local hospice who supported me and my family whilst my dad was dealing with terminal cancer. He has since passed away. I enjoy spending time with my family and going out with friends.

Visiting care in Basingstoke

Here at Helping Hands we offer individually tailored, high quality care, ensuring that the very best standards of support are delivered by our carers to each and every one of our customers.

Simon and his team provide everything from companionship and housekeeping services, through to providing more complex healthcare support for people living with conditions such as dementia, multiple sclerosis, a spinal injury, Parkinson’s, an acquired brain injury or life after a stroke. Every member of the Helping Hands team is here to ensure we enable our customers to enjoy the quality of life they deserve in the comfort of their own homes, irrespective of their personal or medical needs.

The team of dedicated carers across Basingstoke and the surrounding areas are chosen and trained at the branch, supported by expert guidance from a team of registered nurses and Branch Manager Simon. We draw on our extensive knowledge of care, having first launched Helping Hands in Warwickshire in 1989.

Live-in care in Basingstoke

If you need a more intense level of care, our carers are fully trained to provide you with the support you require, on your terms. Live-in care means exactly that – a carer will live with you in your home and be there to help you around the clock.

It may be that you need help with household duties and taking medication throughout the day, or it may be that you need someone to accompany you to work if you are living with a progressive condition. We’re here to provide you and your loved ones, with the peace of mind that you are in capable and caring hands.

Care Agency In Basingstoke

As a private care provider rather than a care agency, Helping Hands are able to offer you a high-quality care service that includes full carer support, highly trained and valued carers, and no hidden fees for you. All of our care provision is independently regulated and fully managed, so you can be confident that your needs and wishes will always be our top priority.

Domiciliary care to suit you

As a viable alternative to residential care, domiciliary care offers the highest level of care that is suited to your routines and habits. Whether that be going out to the shops every Monday morning or stopping off for a slice of cake at the local café – our care packages are totally bespoke for you.

For many, leaving the comforts of their own home can be unsettling, particularly if you are living with a partner, family member or friend. Yet live-in care can be the solution you are looking for to ensure you’re feeling reassured and relaxed at home.

Specialist dementia care from our expert team

Adjusting to life with dementia can often be difficult for everyone involved, and with more people living with dementia than ever, we understand the upheaval this condition can cause. Yet with the right support and dementia care in place, we believe that no one that has dementia needs to leave their home.

From our Dementia Care Guide and tips to supporting yourself or loved ones with dementia, to understanding exactly what dementia is, our team has the tools to ensure care is of the highest standard, regardless of the type of dementia or the stage of dementia you are living with.

Elderly care that considers you

Elderly care covers all aspects of care that may be needed for those that are more senior and are struggling with everyday tasks, or may have a condition that they have developed later on in life that they need support with.

We also recognise the importance of healthy living both physically and mentally. Even if we can assist you with walking to the Basingstoke library and taking part in a weekly book group, we will be there for you.

Respite care in Basingstoke

From time to time, there may be a need for you or your loved one to have some respite care. In order to keep disruption to a minimum, we can meet with you and your carer to find out what suits you best – whether that’s how much milk you take in your coffee or where your favourite walk is.

There may also be instances where you need respite care at short notice, such as the following:

  • Hospital discharge – if you need care after a spell in hospital to get you back on your feet.
  • Emergencies – for times when your regular carer is unable to be there, perhaps due to a family emergency.
  • One-off occasions – when there are special events that you want to attend that requires some support.

Our Basingstoke care team are able to care for you as soon as you need them, even if that’s at short notice.

Our dedicated team of live-in carers
