Bilston respite support from Helping Hands

Respite care can be necessary for a number of reasons, whether your regular carer needs a break, your family are taking a holiday, or you need additional support after an illness or surgery. However, what not everyone realises is that respite care can be delivered in your own home, there’s no reason to go into a residential facility, even temporarily. With branches across the whole of England and Wales, Helping Hands have been supporting people to live comfortably in their own homes and providing the highest standards of care for over 30 years. Our dedicated Bilston care team are no exception, providing excellent levels of care for customers throughout the region.

What is respite care?

Respite care is usually short-term care for a week or two while your regular carer takes a well-earned break, your family go on holiday or you recover from an illness or surgery. You may even be thinking about having longer-term care but you would rather try it out temporarily at first, that way you will know it’s the right fit for you. Ultimately though, respite care at home keeps you in the place you love most and feel safest in, which can only benefit your wellbeing, both physically and emotionally.

When to choose respite care

You may already have a carer, or it may be that you’ve never had professional care before, but when it is needed, receiving it at home can make such a difference to your wellbeing. Staying in the home you love will benefit you emotionally as well as physically, due to being around people and pets that mean the world to you, and the fact you won’t be constrained by visiting times or restrictions. Also, in an emergency situation, such as your carer being taken ill or an unexpected hospital discharge, trying to find care can be extremely stressful, however Helping Hands can usually have a carer with you in your home within 24 hours, meaning reassurance for both you and your loved ones.

Respite care services tailored to you

At Helping Hands, our mission is “Our care makes it possible for you to live safely at home” and we live by that, every single day. We can provide respite care on either a visiting or live-in-care basis, and we’ll build your bespoke package of care around whatever suits your needs. Our compassionate carers can undertake every aspect of your care at home, such as personal care, medication, mobility, meal preparation and housework, while also ensuring that you have the company you want and get to access the community as you always have done.

Qualified respite carers in Bilston

Our carers are the heart of our business as without them we’d have no business! We are careful to only select people who are naturally compassionate to become Helping Hands carers because, while we can train them on every skill they’ll need in our customers’ homes, we can’t teach them how to care about other people’s wellbeing. Our training is thorough to ensure that, even if they’re already experienced carers, they learn the high standards of care we expect, and we check their backgrounds carefully, so we know that only the right people are coming into your home. In addition, we are fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales, so you and your loved ones can be reassured that we’ll always care for you expertly.
