Guildford dementia support from Helping Hands

The term ‘dementia’ is an umbrella word for the conditions and symptoms that can affect the function of the brain and memory. There are many different types of dementia, which are generally progressive over time, split into several stages. For those people who are living with more developed dementia, some extra care is required to ensure a comfortable, good quality of life and to keep people as healthy as possible for as long as possible.

Our home care Guildford team are here to support anyone who is living with dementia with physical and psychological support – everything from helping with personal hygiene, washing and dressing to assisting with the administration of medication and the running of errands. Why dementia home care is a good option

Here at Helping Hands, we are considered to be industry leaders in dementia care. With over 30 years of experience in home care services, we have developed a strong understanding of how to best support people who are living with dementia. Our team of dementia care staff in Guildford is able to use this knowledge to ensure that they are providing second to none support.

We understand that for people who have dementia, it is important to have a strong routine and to keep everything as familiar as possible. And this is why we believe that home care services are the best option. With visiting care – whereby a trained local visits you or your loved one living with dementia regularly – meaning that they can stay living in the familiarity and comfort of their own homes whilst getting all of the support that they need.

Dementia care services tailored to you

With Helping Hands, we can offer a range of person-centred support services for people who are living with dementia. The best one for you depends on your own individual needs and preferences. We can arrange for visiting care from as little as several visits each week of half an hour, to several visits each day. We can also arrange for specially selected live-in carers who will live in the home and provide full-time support, or indeed, clinical nursing-led care from our registered nurses.

If you are a regular carer or are helping to support a loved one who has been diagnosed with dementia, we can also provide reliable, expert respite care, allowing you to take a planned or unplanned break with the peace of mind that they are being cared for properly.

All of our care teams have been trained specifically in helping to support people who are living with dementia and have been hand-picked for both their technical abilities and friendly personalities. They can help with anything that needs doing, from light housework and preparing healthy meals, to continence management and facilitating social interaction.

Qualified dementia carers in Guildford

Here at Helping Hands, we are fully inspected, regulated, and rated by the CQC (Care Quality Commission), ensuring that we deliver the highest quality dementia support and home care services.

We are also founder members of the UKHCA (United Kingdom Home Care Association) – a self-regulating body that promotes good quality home care.

We take our responsibilities in supporting people who are living with dementia very seriously, and this is why we work closely with institutions that are concerned with understanding dementia, encouraging the most effective dementia care according to the most recent developments, and representing people living with dementia and their carers.

Working alongside institutions such as Dementia UK and the Dementia Action Alliance enables us to keep on top of developments in the field as well as contribute our own experiences in the area of dementia care.

All of our care staff have passed a DBS check and initial training course before they can start to work for us. They also get continued training throughout their career to ensure that they are providing the most up-to-date care possible, and they have support available to them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
